Star Product: Xeikon 8000
Wednesday, 14 May 2008
Back in March, the latest Xeikon press was unveiled and is to form a major part of the company’s offering at Drupa. Punch Graphix, Xeikon’s parent company, has high hopes for the 8000 and has the Kodak Versamark firmly in its sights.

At 230ppm, it’s unlikely to beat the Versamark on speed but the 8000 has an image quality of 1,200dpi and targets a range of markets including transactional, point of sale and direct mail. Priced at €850,000 (£675,000), the press has a web width of 320-512mm and uses the X-800 front end software. Xeikon has calculated that the press is capable of producing a monthly volume of 8.5m A4 pages.
