Heidelberg’s new Stahlfolder KH 82 (Halls 1 and 2) is a brand new combination folder with a fully automated cross-fold unit said to cut set-up time by up to 80% and deliver a service life of up to 10 times longer than traditional knife technology.

Folders have traditionally slowed when handling cross-folds; the new KH 82 is said to deliver up to 230 metres per minute speed even when cross-folding. Heidelberg calculates that on a three-shift pattern, the extra productivity boosts of the KH 82 will yield an extra 7.2m sheets each year. The new KH 82 also has the ability to eject
mis-folded sheets at full production speed, and three separate operator control panels sited throughout the machine help to optimise operator time. For high-speed production, there is also a new TSH delivery system with twin-pile removal that will be shown at Drupa working in conjunction with the KH 82.
