Independent’s London ops move to Dartford

Independent Paper has opened a new London sales office, just months after it shut down its Swanley branch.

Customers of the Dartford-based branch will receive deliveries from the firm’s warehousing and logistics site in Bardon, Leicestershire.

Managing director Mike Gee said: “The addition of our new logistics facility in Bardon has enabled us to move our Swanley sales operation to Dartford.

“The modern offices will provide the company with a great platform for our sales staff in the South East to offer the kind of friendly, efficient service our customers have always been used to.”

Current Dartford branch manager John Jones will be retiring from the firm while Andy Faithful took over the reins as branch manager of the London office on 10 March.

Gee said: “With John Jones retiring in September after a great service to Independent and the industry, we had no hesitation in asking Andy Faithful to take over in the role of branch manager.”

No extra staff have been taken on at this stage, although Gee said the firm’s plans for growth meant that he was looking to take on additional employees.

Independent Paper, a subsidiary of Denmaur Papers, has one warehouse in Bardon, and four sales offices in Dartford, Manchester, Leeds and Bardon.

In January, the firm announced it would close its Swanley site, one of its two remaining warehouses (PrintWeek, 17 January 2008).
