Printing.com to open Australian franchise

Printing.com, the AIM-listed franchise business, is expanding its overseas reach with plans to set up an operation in Australia this year.

The company, which runs a printing hub in Manchester and already has operations outside the UK in France, Iceland and New Zealand, is planning to set up in Australia later in the year and is currently “scrutinising” a number of potential production partners in the country.

Tony Rafferty, chief executive of Printing.com, told PrintWeek the company had been looking at the Australian market for some time.

“It is a nation of entrepreneurs to which our franchise model is well suited. We have had a strong response in our search for a print partner.”

Printing.com’s latest expansion plans were revealed in a statement released last week, which also announced an initiative to start selling personalised merchandise through the Network Partner scheme.

Printing.com receives a licence fee, merchandising fees and royalties on sales from network partners who sell their merchandise products through the company.

A number of licences have already been granted for the service, which is expected to kick off in June.
