Communisis has secured a multimillion-pound, five-year business process outsourcing deal with Co-operative Financial Services (CFS) to handle its print, mail and fulfilment requirements.

The deal, effective from 30 January, includes the transfer of all CFS's existing print, mail, and fulfilment processes to Communisis' facilities in Trafford Wharf, Manchester, and its Centre of Excellence in Speke, Liverpool.

The majority of the billing and statement printing will take place at Speke with direct mail handled at Trafford Wharf.

Nineteen CFS employees have transferred to Communisis in a tupe agreement.

Communisis managing director Alistair Blaxill said the contract was "further evidence that clients trust us to deliver their business-critical communications by handling their entire business process".

CFS public relations manager Duncan Bowker told printweek.com: "When we looked at the size of the operation and saw what Communisis could do, they simply had the infrastructure that could handle the work."

Communisis will run the work on kit that includes digital Océ VarioStream printers and Buhrs enclosing and inserting lines.
