Print Plus Group cuts outsourcing costs by installing Horizon folder

Commercial printer Print Plus Group has invested in a Horizon AFC566FKT folder from UK supplier GAE.

According to the Black-pool-based company’s managing director Adam Ray, the machine will allow it to cut its outsourcing costs.

“Six months ago, all the complex folding jobs were outsourced. We are now doing them in-house, which gives us greater control and the ability to meet the demand for faster turnaround that all printing companies are facing,” Ray said.

The machine features a large icon-based colour touch-screen and a 200-job on-board memory store. It can run at up to 42,000sph and comes with 17 standard fold patterns.

The operation’s existing folder is now being used for longer runs, and those that are simpler to set up. In addition, the new Horizon tackles more complex shorter runs.

l Digital equipment manufacturer Lasermax Roll Systems is to show its unwind and cutter/stacking systems at GAE’s open house at Perivale on 5-7 February. The two companies signed a partnership agreement last year.
