PrintWeek Paper Guide 2007
By Darryl Danielli Friday, 09 November 2007
It seems that hardly a week goes by without the launch of a new paper product, a reflection of the fast-moving pace of the paper sector.
Paper manufacturers and merchants are at the forefront of innovation and, in many ways, they face the same business challenges as printers: rising costs and excess capacity.
To this end, we look at the new pulp economies in South America and how printers and paper suppliers can work together to mitigate rising costs. In many ways, the co-operation of printers and paper merchants and mills to try and pass on these inflating costs to end customers is one of the most important challenges facing both groups.
We also look at how paper mills are adopting a carbon neutral approach to their operations, again something the sector has in common with printers.
And it seems fitting that we round off the editorial section of the guide with our feature celebrating the power of print, highlighting the age old physical properties of combining paper and ink, which (hopefully) will continue to be the deciding element in our armoury for print’s ongoing battle against digital media.
As well as these editorial features, you will also find a useful guide with the contact details of the vast majority of UK paper suppliers. On the subsequent pages, there is a portfolio section, where we list all of the major paper suppliers with details of their core products and services along with contact names.
We hope you find the editorial content of this inaugural Paper Guide an enjoyable read and the portfolio section useful and informative.
