Folio boosts Avon Dies acquisition with Heidelberg Varimatrix 105
Print finishing specialist Folio (Bristol) has bought a Varimatrix 105 die-cutter for its newly acquired Avon Dies division.
The trade finisher bought Avon Dies in July this year and the entry-level Varimatrix will replace a Bobst machine to handle a range of cutting and creasing work.
According to Folio managing director Andy Bird, the machine was bought because it can handle a wider range of stock. He added that the new kit will extend the company’s greetings and packaging work.
“I like the press-style feed and delivery in particular,” he said. “With this machine I believe Heidelberg has the best front and back end technology in this market.”
The Varimatrix can handle sheets from 80gsm to 1,400gsm and cartonboard up to 4mm thick. The feeder can switch sidelays from pull to push, allowing it to handle a wider range of stocks.
“The Varimatrix will open up new opportunities,” added Bird. “The catchment area for this work is getting wider, even national. The more niche the service, the further people will travel for the results they want.”
