Bridgestone reveals e-paper innovations
Full-colour, bendable e-paper could be available as early as 2009, after Japanese corporation Bridgestone revealed its latest product developments.
Bridgestone has created a 0.29mm-thick display, which is capable of displaying 4,096 colours, and measures 20sq cm.
At the same time, it claimed it had created the world's largest full-colour e-paper, with an A3 offering.
It is now gearing up to start mass production of the display and hopes to have it on the market by 2009.
Although Bridgestone is most famous as a tyre manufacturer, it also produces other rubber products, plastic films and ceramics.
The product uses a plastic film substrate to give flexibility and ensure the image does not break up when the paper is bent.
According to reports, the smaller e-paper is likely to be used for in-store advertising, while the A3 product will also be used for large-size information displays.
