Logopak and Metro unveil RFID-ready supplier pack

Logopak, the print-and-apply labelling specialist, has launched an RFID initiative in association with German retailer Metro.

European suppliers to Metro will be able to get an RFID starter pack from Logopak to help them deliver RFID-tagged pallets of products.

Suppliers can choose from one of three variants of the pack to suit their operation.

The most basic will consist of a VLP 210 offline printer with a connected hand-held barcode scanner that will capture information to be written to an RFID tag. That will then be embedded in a label and applied by hand to a pallet.

Another version includes an RFID ‘gate’ manufactured by German company Sick. This will read tags as pallets leave the labelling station and send information to an enterprise resource planning system for data storage.

The third option automates all the facilities offered by the first two programmes using a Logopak 920 PF automatic pallet labeller.
