PPG grabs stake in Envelope Works
Dutch envelope specialist Printing Partners Group (PPG) has made its first move into UK-based production after buying a major stake in The Envelope Works.
The deal was completed on 9 July and the combined group will have a turnover of £20m and 90 staff. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
PPG, an independent envelope supplier, operates in Germany, Holland, France and Belgium. It has a plant in Doetinchem in the east of Holland and now The Envelope Works site in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
The Envelope Works managing director Mark Farrimond said: “The benefits of our new partnership are almost endless. We will have two ultramodern production plants with more than 25 printing presses, of which at least seven are four-colour machines.
“With The Envelope Works’ extensive knowledge of the UK marketplace and PPG’s experience in Europe, both companies will complement each other perfectly.”
The 25 presses are a mixture of machines built by US firm Halm and German manufacturer W&D.
