GBC premieres adhesive for fuser oil-heavy digital work
GBC Commercial Laminating Solutions Group has added a new digital adhesive to its Lay-Flat film range, which the company has claimed increases bondage and flat output when laminating electrophotographic prints.
The glue is designed to bond to jobs that use high levels of fuser oil.
The film, which allows for immediate lamination, means firms can avoid producing unnecessary prints to absorb excess fuser oil, said the Netherlands-based equipment company.
The product was beta tested at UK digital firm Butler and Tanner.
Digital operations manager Daniel Field said: "It is perfect for laminating from digital presses, including heavily print-saturated products. Digital Lay-Flat film works well at various laminating speeds and temperatures.
"Its adhesion is definitely the best I have seen on any digital print," he added.
The printer runs three Kodak Nexpress digital presses and produces a range of brochures, catalogues, annual reports, high-end books and fine art jobs.
The 37.5-micron film, which is designed for a temperature range of 120-145°C, is available in clear and matt finishes with widths matching standard electrophotographic print sizes.
GBC is part of the Acco Brands Corporation.
