Royal Mail sticks to its guns over pay deal
Royal Mail management has written to the Communication Workers Union, warning them there will be no increased pay offer, despite the vote to strike
It claims that most postal workers did not want to go on strike, although last week a vote by union members resulted in 77% supporting a strike over Royal Mail's 2.5% pay offer. If industrial action goes ahead, it would be the first national postal strike in 10 years and could affect the printing industry if it leads to marketers scaling back direct mail campaigns.

The Royal Mail staff are shooting themselves in the foot with their industrial action. I represent a mailing company ( The Spatial Group) and we are converting B2B clients to alternative UK distributors on a daily basis.Even though, Royal Mail offer a universal service, it pays to look at the alternatives on offer and to split mailings into 2 or 3 sections , not only to get the best price but to ensure deliveriers take place during this industrial action. The trouble is, that Royal Mail won't get this work back.
