Pindar buys Cooper Clegg
Pindar has completed its acquisition of Cooper Clegg and created a £139m web offset powerhouse.
The deal, which secures the long-term future of magazine printer Cooper Clegg, was signed late on Friday (3 March). The value of the sale, which was first mooted in January, is undisclosed.
"What we'll bring to the business is financial stability, investment and considerable operational expertise, plus a degree of market insight based upon our past experience as a leading print supplier to the publishing industry," said Pindar chairman Andrew Pindar (pictured).
Cooper Clegg, which was founded by chairman Ian Cooper 24 years ago, currently prints high-profile magazines such as Empire, Arena, FHM for EMAP and Vanity Fair for Condé Nast. Other clients include; Giraffe, Redwood, Seven Publishing, Slimming World, P&O, Laura Ashley and Saga.
"Pindar is an independent company that is genuinely committed to the print sector and it has the desire and ability to provide the investment and know-how that will take Cooper Clegg to the next stage of its development," said Cooper.
"It also has considerable expertise in content management and multi-media publishing that will generate new and exciting commercial opportunities for the business in the future."
Catalogue specialist Pindar employs 2,000 staff across operations in the UK, US, India and Australasia, and has a turnover of £109m.
