Butler & Tanner is celebrating its 150th anniversary by producing a special limited edition book.
The Frome book printer has produced 500 numbered copies of 150 B&T to celebrate a century and a half of quality printing.
“It’s case-bound with cloth, and includes tip-ins and wraparounds. Robert Horne supplied the paper, including Tyvek and parchment, so it’s a real feast of materials,” explained corporate sales manager Corin Langton. “We’ve been working on it since March, so the lead time was actually quite short.”
The 48pp book includes 16 separate illustrated spreads – one for each decade plus one for the future – with artwork contributed by a host of cutting-edge creatives, including James Jarvis, Ewen Spencer and Pete Fowler. The book was art directed by Ben Sansbury.
“The spreads are held together by an illustrative narrative of how the book was made,” added Langton.
150 B&T will be launched at an event at London’s Artomatic gallery next Wednesday (12 September).
B&T was founded when a chemist teamed up with his print supplier.
