Kodak's takes giant strides in Bengaluru with CTP installations to top firms
By Deepika Arwind Wednesday, 08 September 2010
With five installations within the first half of 2010, Kodak seems to have reaffirmed its position as a top CTP supplier in the Bengaluru print market.
One of the largest publishing and commercial printers in Bengaluru, Rajhans Enterprises, located in the Rajajinagar industrial town, recently installed their fourth Kodak Trendsetter 400 IV Quantum platesetter. This is in addition to their two Kodak Trendsetter 800III Quantum platesetters and one Kodak Trendsetter 400 platesetterKodak workflow solutions and T860 plate processors.
"Two more KodakCTP installations are due in September," says Abraham Prabhakar, regional sales manager, Kodak India. A Balachandra, director, Rajhans Enterprises, said on the occasion of the fourth installation of the Kodak CTP solution, "We were satisfied with the performance, quality and stability of the Kodak pre-press solutions that we had installed in the past, and hence decided to go in for the Kodak Trendsetter 400, to fulfill the demand on expanding our commercial and newspaper printing volumes."
Another buyer of Kodak pre-press solution is Surabhi Prints, a commercial printer in Jayanagar, founded in 2006. With a Kodak Trensdsetter 400 (along with workflow solutions), Surabhi is all setto increase their turnover by 50%. "Since our installation eight months ago, we are able to produce 15-20 jobs a day. Earlier it was 7-10 print jobs," said K Ranganatha, the director, Surabhi Prints."There is impetus in terms of speed and quality," he added. The firm will also be installing a four-colour Heidelberg 8CMD-74 in the coming months.
At the Print Factory located in Sheshadripuram, the mood is bullish too. After the installation of the Kodak Quantum 800 (along with Kodak Preps imposition software, Kodak Prinergy Evo workflow and Kodak T860 plate processor) Sudhir M K, the director, Print Factory, said that the press' efficiency has increased as they now have everything they need under one roof.
After an evaluation of all the suppliers in the CTP segment, Sudhir finalised on the Kodak. "We are planning to add a second four-colour press to increase our commercial jobs such as brochures, annualreports, books and so on," he added. The press is also taking on large-format printing.
Vishwakala Printers a print company staffed by 50 people are engaged in corporate printing for multinationals and key brands in the IT, garment, construction, automotive and pharmaceutical industry. They installed a Kodak Trendsetter 400 three months ago, to cater and support their digital plates requirement in addition to their existing equipment. "Kodak solutions are modular and can be upgraded at site;this was not the case with our earlier installed equipment, and so we went with Kodak," says H C Vishwanath Babu, managing partner, Vishwakala Printers. They are looking at close to 30 per cent jump in turnover as compared to last year.
For Sharadh Enterprises, based in Ulsoor, commercial and book printing have seen a boost over the past four months, since the installation of the Kodak Trendsetter 800 (along with Kodak preps imposition software, Prinergy Evo workflow and plate processor).
C Narendra, joined his father, Chandrashekhar's press in early 2000 and invested in the machine. "We wanted to avoid film processing due to the time and quality factors," stated Narendra. He added that since the installation, their clientele has increased, along with efficiency."We've already seen a 15 per cent increase in jobs over the past few months."
