Photographer uses Shiraz Focus RIP for Eden exhibition

By Tim Sheahan Monday, 06 September 2010

Canadian photographer Linda Rutenberg has partnered with Shiraz to use the software developer's Focus RIP in the production of work for her exhibition, Eden at Night.

Rutenberg used the Focus software, designed for photographers and fine artists reproducing work on a wide-format printer, to print shots taken of plants after dark at Cornwall's Eden Project.

She said: "The Focus package has had an enormous impact on my work. Historically, the most frustrating area for photographers were the variables in printing.

"What you saw on the monitor was not what you ended up with. Shiraz RIP changed all that. I think the largest impact has been speed and the ability to reproduce with confidence."

Printing of the photographs, currently on show at the Eden Project, was carried out on an Epson 9800.

Ramin Shahbazi, business development director at Shiraz Software, said: "The Focus package was engineered with challenging applications in mind in which reliable image management was paramount.

"The results make it an indispensable product for artists and photographers. We hope that Rutenberg will use Focus on her forthcoming work."
