Me & my... RedTie RTT W2P system

While the franchise model is by its very nature fragmented, a unified message and appearance is imperative for the system to work - what would McDonalds be without the golden arches or KFC without The Colonel?

Me & my... Casematic H46 Pro

But for one of printer ABC Imaging's construction firm clients, bidding for a contract with Chester Zoo, this was just the result they were after.

Me & my... Edale Alpha label press

Going on a diet at label printer Customark must be tough. Alongside the more perfunctory barcodes, health and safety and toolbox labels whizzing through the company's machines, there's also an onslaught of images of delicious-looking cakes and gooey gateaux. Fortunately - or perhaps disappointingly - having the food labelling sector as your largest client-base doesn't, reports production manager Barry Foster, involve any free samples.

Me & my... Xerox 770 Digital Color Press

Louise Hodge and her husband Simon, co-owners of self-styled 'single-source marketing agency' Fidelity Solutions, are in a fortunate position. While printers across the country are rushing out to buy in design skills to increase margins with some added-value service, the Hodges have the advantage of coming from a design background to begin with, so the skills are already in place.

Me & my... Kodak Prosper 1000

Being an early adopter of technology is not always the easiest position to be in. Take those who rushed to be the first to hold an iPhone 4 back in 2010 only to find that 'holding' said phone was actually the last thing you should do if you wanted to call anyone - placing your hand over the corner of the phone could result in a loss of signal. Those who bought later models were spared the issue thanks to the suffering of those who got there first.

Me & my... Morgana DocuMaster Pro

In some ways, David Whiteway, managing director of printer Pinders, has been left holding the baby - albeit a baby that this year reaches the grand old age of 74. Founded by his grandfather in 1938, the Sheffield-based Pinders print business has been successfully passed through the generations. However, Whiteway himself, as a young man, bucked the trend and became a chartered accountant, until the lure of the family trade proved too much and pulled him back to run the printing company with his brother 20 years ago. Then, two years ago, his brother retired leaving Whiteway in sole charge of the family silver.

Me & my... Océ VarioPrint 6200 Ultra Line

The 20th century fostered several great double acts: Lennon and McCartney, Morecambe and Wise, Astaire and Rogers, and one you might not have heard of: Phillips and Hickey. That last pair, Adrian Hickey and Winfrod Phillips, are co-founders of South Wales digital printer Integrated Graphics, and while the first three couples may be more famous, Hickey and Phillips are the only double-act still performing successfully together in the 21st century. The secret, according to Hickey, is that the two work in perfect harmony.

Me & my... Ferag UniDrum

Christmas telly is a matter of grave importance. A second missed of Great Expectations and your dad will be asking plot-related questions for the next two hours. Perhaps more pressingly, "Look, Doctor Who is on!" is the perfect escape from another round of charades with gran. Thank goodness, then, for the Christmas telly guide.

Me & my... TyreF Coating Blanket

We all tend to enjoy a whinge about the morning commute to work, but DS Smith print manager Steve Harkins would appear to have a far worse ordeal than the vast majority and so more cause to complain: he does not even live in the country in which he works. However, all is not entirely as it seems.
