Konica Minolta targets high-end mono market with Bizhub Pros

Konica Minolta has set its sights on taking market share from Xerox and Océ in high-end mono production.

According to the group, over the past five years, the company has successfully broken into commercial mono digital print and launched the 6500, its "hugely successful" colour printer, at Ipex 2006.

Claire Revell, head of production print sales, at Konica Minolta UK, said: "We have now established ourselves as a credible solutions provider and are looking at stage two of our evolution.

"We have a solid client base and are now set to grow with our customers into higher-end mono production."

The market is currently dominated by industry giants Xerox and Océ, but Revell is confident that Konica Minolta can make an impact.

"Our customer-focused approach to the market will stand us in good stead," she said. "The fact that we are new on the scene means we can establish a reputation."

Leading the assault on the high-end mono market will be the flagship Bizhub Pro 2500 range of printers, which Konica Minolta claimed was the fastest single-pass printing system available.

The printers will be on show at Total Print! Expo, where the manufacturer will exhibit with the theme "black is back", alongside new front-end software.
