Océ’s 6000 series first to go carbon positive

Océ has raised the industry’s environmental stakes after making its VarioPrint 6000 series ‘carbon positive’.

The manufacturer has benchmarked the 6000’s environmental performance and energy consumption. The remaining impact of its energy consumption will be offset with the gold standard Carbon Positive scheme. This, according to Océ, doubles the offsetting compared to other carbon offsetting schemes.

Océ UK has formed a strategic partnership with Delta-Simons, which has worked on bespoke environmental management systems for Walmart, Enterprise Ireland and Coca-Cola.

“The environment has al-ways been important to Océ,” said Océ UK marketing manager Ed Hudson. “We needed the help of professionals to get to the next platform.”

Hudson added that Océ was looking at incorporating the scheme with other ranges, although that is currently “work in progress”.

Delta-Simons managing director Gareth Pickles said: “Sustainability and carbon management is now a business priority for everybody.

It is an area that is constantly changing.”

Océ has also adopted the approach for its entire UK organisation, with the strategic alliance covering areas including corporate responsibility, sustainable development, carbon management and other corporate issues.

Hudson said: “We ensure that our manufacturing processes and products comply with all environmental requirements.”
