Star Product: Fuji Brillia Pro-V

With Pro-V, Fuji is taking the benefits of chemistry-free plates to the part of the market that needs it most, the smaller printer.

While violet always had the upper hand for imaging with lower up- front, running and maintenance costs, until now, it precluded processless. Now with the elimination of the need to buy a processor – albeit with the addition of a special gumming unit – the cost of entry to metal CTP has lowered. With the notoriously tricky chemistry of violet plates, it’s anticipated many violet CTP users will – if their platesetter has the oomph, and most do – want to drop in Pro-V (or, to be fair, Agfa’s alternative Azura V) to do the planet, their books, and the bloke that looks after the processor today, a favour.
