Optimus to launch new web-to-print tool
By Melanie Defries Monday, 23 January 2012
Print software manufacturer Optimus will launch a modular web-to-print tool, which integrates with its existing Optimus Dash and 2020 MIS software, at Fespa next month.
Optimus Cloud will enable print buyers to order standard products with one click and order variable data products with full access to the product’s template, regardless of its complexity.
The variable data engine, which enables customers to make changes and has an interface that resembles the end product, automatically converts orders into production jobs in the printer’s workflow.
Optimus Cloud also features an online quote generator, which integrates with the MIS, where the customer can choose options, view the price and order in one click.
Its 'customer view' module draws information from the MIS to enable customers to see all their own relevant information, including historical and current transactions.
Optimus group managing director Nicola Bisset said: "As with all Optimus development, we carried out extensive research, talking to a wide variety of customers worldwide.
"A common theme from this research was that print providers had multiple web-to-print systems to satisfy individual customers’ demands for different products and services, many of which lacked any integration with MIS.
"We incorporated this research and produced Optimus Cloud as the one complete solution, meeting the needs of the market to negate the need for multiple solutions."
List price for the software will start at £2,000 for one of the non-variable data modules, and Bisset confirmed that Optimus is also considering offering it on a monthly fee basis.
