Alchemy Print Finishers undergoes name change

Coatings specialist Alchemy Print Finishers has changed its name to Alchemy Coatings in order to better reflect its services.

Nigel Anderson, managing director at the Manchester-based business, said: "We are always getting calls from people asking for finishing services, which is understandable when we are Alchemy Print Finishers. But we are predominantly a coatings company – we only really do die-cutting and we want a name that reflects what we do."

The company changed its name at Companies House on 27 October 2009.

Anderson added: "I think we picked the wrong climate to make this announcement. Everyone is asking if we have pre-packed, it's just a name change."

Andrew, don't think there is any funny business going on here, a look into the company shows that it is actually only a name change, however it is a bit worrying that Nigel also owns a company called tender4print.com a very dangerous move for a print finishing "coatings" firm.

Nigel Anderson - 23 November 2009

Very good Andrew. Thanks for putting the record straight Mr Rola Cola, our Company Registered Number is the same therefore it is only a name change.

Tender4print.com is currently a none-trading Company however there is a website under construction and when launched it will be a fantastic tool for any Company within the industry to become more profitable, mine included. It isn't a print auction site, it will be a site where you can advertise the materials and services your Company uses thus inviting suppliers of those materials and services to quote on supply; hopefully introducing new suppliers you previously didn't know and hopefully getting better prices which i think all would agree is something we could all do with at the moment! The site itself will not act as a middle man in any way it will merely act as a tool for Companies to make new contacts.

well if there is a chance to cheapen the print industry.....then Nigel is your man....

maybe he is just tired of messing up pricing in the print finishing arena......so needs another area to kick off in...

print geek - 26 November 2009

maybe Nigel should have gone one stage further with the name change ....... an alchemist is someone who turns rubbish metals into gold..... mite have been more accurate to call his company the "Lead Weight"......still a valuable metal.. but with the tendancy to drag everything else down.

An alchemist is someone who transmutes baser metals into gold. Quite a good name for a Company applying coatings to print in order to enhance or improve its appearance, I thought \(and still do). The definition of 'pseudonym' is: a fictitious name used by an author to conceal his or her identity. If you don't have the backbone to put your name against your statements then I suggest you don't make any. If there were any substance to what you have written about pricing then I would no longer be here and the Companies that have gone out of business, would be. Strange isn't it; how I have always refused to be dragged into the stupidity of local trade finishers \(led by Celloglas initially) of doing work for nothing in order to win back business they have lost on service, not price. Needless to say they then lose the work on service again and inevitably go bankrupt taking some of their suppliers down with them. There are a lot of idiots out there printing and finishing for free, Carlton Press was a prime example, however I'm not one of them and never have been, which is why my business is profitable. My prices are realistic and fair; my rivals' prices are suicidal but very attractive to the buyer. Fortunately they won't stay in business; unfortunately they will hide \(like you behind your pseudonym) behind the 'Limited Liability' laws and will probably re-open the following week and do exactly the same thing over again! Print Geek, you seem to spend a lot of your time on the Printweek blog and most definitely have an opinion on most subjects, however most of what you write makes little sense. Do you have a job? If you do I suggest you do the decent thing and inform your paymaster that you are failing miserably in your duties as you spend all your time, sorry, your employers time, tarting around on the Printweek blog in a desperate attempt to make yourself feel important. Out of interest, what size feet do you have? Does anyone know who Print Geek is?

Nigel - amusing rant, but I preferred it when you got stuck in to your competitor on the other side of the pennines.  Any news on that immensely successful enterprise?

Nigel Anderson - 27 November 2009

Do you mean the 'incredible shrinking Company'? First one factory, then two, then three, then four!!! Oh my God he's taking over the world; hang on a minute, now there's only three, just a minute, now there's only two again! Not sure whether it's about to become one again. There's plenty of rumours flying, but probably just nonesense like most of the rumours flying around.

blimey - you do have a lot to say for yourself still dont ya nigel. Think i fell asleep half way through!

Arent you the guy who was promoting buy 2 processes and get the third one free?? Whats that all about?

print geek - 27 November 2009

sounds like supermarket selling......have you started charging for bags yet?

Nigel Anderson - 27 November 2009

As I said "most of what you write makes little sense". Point proven.

I, too, love it when Nigel starts kicking ass here on PrintWeek.  It's magical.

'Not A Doctor' (NDCT) - 28 November 2009

Indeed, Chris.  Did you see the post from Aussie-land yesterday?  World-wide interest. If only this export was helping the economy....

Edna Bag - 28 November 2009

Nigel

I sometimes have to wonder why you attract so much stick. You are still here whilst many others have fallen (including the so-called insurmountable Celloglas,) You speak your mind, but unlike many, as you see it and not as others would like it to be seen. You worked with and may I say learnt from one of the best, Paul Cripps. I personally felt that you were always goling to be stood up to be counted, that was when you had a short spell at Croydon.

What's more mportant is that, although you have not said it, you continue to live by the simple adage that "anyone can bend down and pick up nothing," and, " an order is not an order until it is paid for!"

Carry on taking the flack from those who will one day be "who was that?"
