Printmax launches online sharing community to deal out print work

A forum for companies to share digital large-format printing and finishing capability is due to launch this week, aiming to help them take on work they would otherwise have to turn down.

Printmax Community is billed as a “sharing system” targeted at businesses of all sizes looking at using each others’ print and finishing machines.

Michael Bolton, managing director of supplier Printmax, said: “The forum will let them see what printers are available. Clients will be able to go after new areas of work, which previously they may have had to turn down.”

He added that new and existing Printmax customers would be able to keep their machines busy all year round, offer more services and “mix and match” gear for finishing. In addition, they could compare quotes from members and get deals on Printmax kit and consumables.

“The scheme relies on trust and communication from all members,” said Bolton. “The market is ripe for a new and refreshing outlook on the way large-format print and finishing is handled.”

Printmax is based in Alton, Hampshire.

Co-opetition has to be an important strategy for smaller printers going forward. This will allow them to fully service loyal clients rather than risking letting them go to competitiors.
