Ace trims turnarounds with Kasfold booklet kit

Ace Graphics has cut turnaround time for brochure finishing after investing in a KAS Kasfold 3000 bookletmaker with on-line trimmer.

The North London-based company has experienced a continual growth in demand for bookletmaking after it added a digital operation seven years ago.

The new machine, which can produce A4, A5 and A6 booklets at up to 1,500 per hour, replaces an existing Kasfold.

Ace Graphics director Steve Holyland said: "On the finishing side, our requirement for bookletmaking was growing and we wanted to upgrade the original machine to one that used flat clenched staples and was supplied with an on-line trimmer.

"Previously we had to take the booklets off the machine and trim them separately on the guillotine."

He added: "Now the job is at least 20% quicker. We can finish and trim 200 brochures in two-thirds of the time."

The six-staff firm carries out work for local builders to corporate companies and London Hotels.

The new bookletmaker joins a finishing department that includes an Ideal guillotine, and a Creasematic creasing machine.
