XChange International announces Exportools add-on release
By Tom Hall Monday, 05 January 2009
XChange International has announced the release of InDesign CS4 and QuarkXPress 8 add-on, Exportools 3.
The software automates the process of exporting individual pages, spreads or selections into separate files.
Its "smart name composition engine" allows users to specify variable placeholders, such as page or serial numbers, which change automatically to individually name each exported file.
Exportools can also extract all a document's text, and export it to other formats, including JPEG, TIFF, PNG, Photoshop, PICT and HTML.
Elsewhere, a post-processing application allows users to select Adobe Photoshop to open the saved EPS files or have Microsoft Word open the pages they just exported as text. The software keeps track of up to 50 recent post-processing applications the user has worked on.
A spokesperson for XChange said: "Because Exportools creates dozens or even hundreds of files, it's essential that a proper file-naming scheme is available to guarantee that each file has a different name, and that it can easily be recognised."
