The Print Co: efficiency is key
The Print Co hopes for £1.5m sales after Ryobi spend
By Tim Sheahan Wednesday, 10 December 2008
Start-up printer The Print Co has targeted a £1.5m turnover in its first year after investing in a five-colour B2 Ryobi 755 press.
The company, which was established in September, has complemented the ‘significant’ investment with the installation of a Screen 4300 platesetter, Schneider guillotine and MBO folder from Friedheim International.
The firm is using its new 755 press, which is configured with fully automatic plate loading, to complete jobs for a major customer.
Paul Harrison, managing director of The Print Co, said: "We want to be as efficient as possible and use as little manpower as possible."
Cwmbran-based Print Co has the ability to print five A6-sized pieces across and five down thanks to the Ryobi’s 765mm print width, which the company said helped it make the decision.
Harrison said: "Equipment selection was critical for us, and while Ryobi was not on my initial list of likely presses, an advert detailing its extra-wide B2-plus format caught my eye."
He added: "The concept of The Print Co was to invest in technology rather than large numbers of people, and create an efficient, environmentally focused print business."
In addition to the press, the five-staff company has installed finishing kit from Friedheim and a Screen 4300 platesetter, which is imaging processless Fujifilm Brillia ProT plates.
"Printing still has a pretty bad image when it comes to green issues – we are trying to offer a fast and competitive service, but with an environmental focus on the products that we are manufacturing," said Harrison.
