Capital administrators freeze Gill family assets

The insolvency practitioner dealing with the administration of Capital Print and Display has frozen the assets of the company's former owners - David Gill and eight members of his family.

Begbies Traynor was appointed as administrator for the company on 26 June this year.

Begbies Traynor's David Hudson, who is acting on the administration, confirmed to PrintWeek that it was seeking an order from the High Court for former Capital director David Gill and his family to return funds to the business to the tune of £1.6m.

He said: "We are pursuing claims against David Gill and eight members of his family.

"In the meantime a freezing order against the Gills has been taken out. We are seeking the return of funds for the benefit of the creditors."

Hudson added that the £1.6m figure was based on initial findings of the administrator's investigation, but he said that it could increase.

Hudson added that the Gills' assets will remain frozen until a court action is finalised.

Since the London-based company went into administration, confusion has surrounded the business with former employees and creditors claiming that Gill told them the company was struggling due to money owed by the London Development Agency – a claim that the LDA has vehemently denied.

David Gill could not be reached for comment.

Hopefully Begbies will be able to set a precedent with this case, get a big result in court, and thereby save a lot of companies and their employees from similar abuse in the future.

There will be dancing in the streets tonight - this is the begining of the end for the Gills. I cannot wait to see how much more money will be "found" and hopefully distributed to those that need it.

May I refer you all to july 1st in Print Week comments board, when I stated that the Investigater and I had been in long discussions and I said that over a million could be returned to the administrator as it was the compensation for loss of profit during the move.I believe I said it was an asset of the company thus not belonging to the Directors.

An ex employee PLEASE BE MAN ENOUGH TO RESPOND,called me a fly in the ointment and accused me of making non constructive comments.

Well Mr.Ex. I am glad to have proved you wrong and I would like to thank the people who gave me helpful information\(proper ex. staff) and Terence Love who took up the mantle when I was being slagged off on the site.

Not bad for a green grocer who needs to get a proper job is it...................................

easy andy your slip is showing

if you had a hand in this then well done, but i think you should show some understanding to the ex-employee who has just had his life turned upside down.

peace, love and herbs

I did and I am proud of what I did

but I am not after any herbs\(I sell my own).

andy hay - 19 September 2008

You must be either blind can't read or so far up MBs backside to make a comment like that. Anyway the bottom line is I have contributed to getting the Gills money frozen and some innocent people along the way may get some money back what they are owed, for that I am proud

Mr. Young have you done to help the crediters of Capital?

Jack Sheperd - 19 September 2008

Hey Andy

You seem to be in the know what other bad guys should we be aware of?

I also have found out that in the Multiplex days MB and his brother cheated a printer from Hertfordshire by lying to the administrator and thereby forcing the other printer out of the bidding.

Who was this printer?

Unfortunately whilst I applaud the administrators for seizing this odious creatures assets Its a shame the Gill family isnt made to suffer like many of us have had to suffer and get turfed out of their various palacial homes and made to live in a B&B

I hope he loses his houses, property in stratford and abroad, has his accounts abroad frozen and with any luck will lose his liberty.

I also hope the DTI will look into his conduct as a Director regarding legal obligations and if there has been serious misconduct I hope someone calls in theserious fraud squd to start tearing up trees,foundations,etc.etc.

He had been planning this for a long time and hoped the credit crunch covered up his action.

I have no sympathy for the Gill family and hope they end up desitue just like they left most of their staff.

Should this odious man and his odious family ever show up anywhere I hope they will get what they deserve.

Jane Rosen - 23 October 2008

I think it is fair to say that these crooks will get away with it in the end, they always do. Assets will have disappeared and Gill will get a slap on the wrist.
