Dsi CMM buys InfoPrint 5000 as UK finally embraces transpromo

Transpromo could be about to take off in the UK following the installation of the first InfoPrint 5000 by direct communications firm Dsi CMM.

Dsi CMM will initially use the InfoPrint 5000 to offer transpromo services to a leading financial institution, which is increasing the variability of its statements and pre-printed reports.

Dave Reynolds, managing director of print services at London-based Dsi CMM, said: “Until now, it has been impossible to accomplish this size and speed of job in digital colour to the incredibly tight schedules that many financial institutions require.

“Our clients have wanted to move into transpromo for some time. Now we have a cost-effective solution, we will be tailoring to their needs and promoting transpromo.”

Phil Self, InfoPrint Solutions UK managing director, said: “The 5000 delivers high quality at a price that has not been present before in the UK. The machine is for businesses serious about transpromo.”

The installation is a sign that the market for transpromo is finally gathering pace in the UK. While on mainland Europe, transpromo has taken hold, with some commentators predicting that 2008 will see 20m transpromo pages printed a month in Spain alone, UK companies have been slow to adopt the new marketing strategy.

Lucy Edwards, marketing manager at Dartford-based Howard Hunt, said: “The transpromo market has not yet taken off in the UK, due primarily to a lack of communication between the various departments in larger businesses.

“Many companies simply have not matched the data they have with their bill printing and are not aware of the benefits.”

InfoPrint’s Self agreed: “The pooling of data and full-colour output needs to come together in order for transpromo to flourish.”
