DST Output and Cambrian Printers headline in the BPIF PrintWeek Excellence Awards' environment categories

Digital printer DST Output and magazine specialist Cambrian Printers have won the environmental categories at this year's BPIF PrintWeek Excellence Awards.
The winners were revealed yesterday, with Bristol-based DST Output winning the Environment +100 employees category.
Judges were looking for evidence of a proactive policy to reduce the environmental impact of larger businesses.
They said that DST Output's UK operation "is a leader within the global group for all things environmental", and example initiatives include holding an environmental day.
Stralfors was highly commended in the category for its continued efforts to reduce its energy consumption.
It has also installed a voltage perfector that has reduced the usage of electricity across its site.
Elsewhere, Cambrian Printers won the Environment -100 employees category, where judges were looking for evidence of a proactive policy to reduce the environmental impact by smaller businesses.
The business has taken an education and awareness route that has encourages staff and suppliers to activity participate in reducing their environmental impact.
Examples include the reduction of waste, energy use, recycling and reuse, which have also reduced running costs.
In the category, Sherwood Press (Nottingham) was highly commended for developing its business in a sustainable manner, which has included becoming ISO 14001 and FSC accredited.
Judges at the BPIF PrintWeek Excellence Awards include industry experts and BPIF specialists that conducted panels assessing written submissions, face-to-face interviews and site visits.
