Wrights' makereadies cut with H'berg Prinect
Wrights of Sandbach has said it will halve its makeready waste levels after investing in Heidelberg's Prinect Prepress Interface technology, which it said will pay for itself within six months.
The Cheshire-based printer is running the Prinect system in conjunction with its Kodak Prinergy workflow, outputting to a trio of Heidelberg presses that includes a five-colour Speedmaster 74-5.
The company also anticipates the new investment, which features fast presetting, will speed up its pre-press operation, where Heidelberg estimates 40-60% of makeready time is spent adjusting colour.
Daniel Bennett, managing director of Wrights, said: We’re really looking to reduce costs and at the same time increase efficiencies. I feel we can cut makeready waste in half.
If we spend £350,000 a year on paper and complete around 15-20 makereadies a day, cutting that usage from 500 sheets to 250 sheets will make a big difference.
The 25-staff printer, established in the 1930s, said that the reduced waste levels will drive the company’s environmental push.
Bennett said: We take the environment seriously, saving paper and cutting waste can only be a good thing.
