Printondemand-worldwide.com has doubled its digital mono print capacity after opting for a Xerox Nuvera 288 to complement its new web-to-print system.

The digital press investment followed a rise in demand for the production of high-resolution monochrome short-run books, particularly in the art and photography markets.

The Nuvera 288, which complements a brace of Xerox DocuTech machines and an 8000AP, has boosted the company’s print capacity, enabling it to produce 4,000 monochrome books a day.

The company said the latest investment completes its end-to-end book production line, a spend that places it in a position to serve a wide spectrum of customers.

The Xerox Nuvera 288 can print up to 288ppm in duplex on a maximum sheet size of 320x470mm.

Dale Burgess, director at Printondemand-worldwide.com, said: The online ordering system will help us cut out administration time for the customer while allowing us to continue to address the needs of the publishing
market.

Turnover has grown from £500,000 to £2.5m over the past seven years and as we continue to invest, our customers lead us in the way we want to go.

The latest investment comes less than a year after the digital printer trebled production space by moving to its current site.
