Morgana launches 'glue efficient' binding machines

Digital finishing specialist Morgana Systems has introduced a new range of PUR glue-based binding machines, said to improve on the existing "difficult to use" PUR machines.

PUR glue is said to provide a stronger hold for longer, although the temperature it needs to be stored at often leads to heavy wastage and difficult use.

The Morgana Adventure and Morgana Explore series use a spray nozzle delivery system so no venting is required, while the machines do not rely on a glue reservoir.

Morgana's managing director Quen Baum said: "We believe the ease of use and environmentally friendly qualities of these products make them ideal for the digital print sector."

The Adventure is a single clamp binder that operates at speeds up to 200 books per hour and it features automatic format change and touch screen operation.

It can handle books up to a maximum size of 380 x 310mm with spine widths from 2 - 50mm. Cover sizes may be up to 700mm x 390mm in stock up to 350gsm.

Morgana's Explore machine is designed for higher volume work with speeds to 500 books per hour. It also has touch screen operation and auto format change and will produce books up to 430 x 310mm with covers up to 680 x 340mm in weights to 300gsm.

Both systems feature short makeready times for more economical operation on shorter runs.
