Burman best-placed to expand media division

FE Burman managing director Michael Burman has said the company is "where it needs to be" after investing in an HP Indigo 7000 digital press.

The London-based printer said it was aiming to grow its communications division, which produces personalised print and mailings, following the recent installation.

The Indigo comes specified with HP’s digital front end, SmartStream Production Pro Server, which Burman said would allow the company to develop new market opportunities.

Burman said the new machine “sets the standard for the future” and would help the company cement its role as a “communications provider”.

He said: “By providing communications, with targeted, short-run print in addition to other media, we have extended our reach.”

Burman added that the press “will enable us to enter a variety of new markets and meet their demands with high quality products”.

In addition to boosting the company’s digital print capacity, the Indigo has been used to carry out overrun work from the printer’s litho presses.

“We’re delighted with the quality, especially with some of the work we’ve been putting through it,” Burman said.

The HP Indigo 7000 can print up to 120 A4 pages per minute in colour mode, or 240 A4 pages in mono operation.

Burman added: “The 7000 has exceptional productivity, is able to handle a wide range of substrates and, with its powerful multi-RIP front end, it can handle image-rich, multi-page documents with complex personalisation.”

FE Burman specialises in digital and short-run offset printing as well as offering a raft of pre-media and mailing services describing itself as a “media and marketing production hub”.
