Vinayaga Screens in Madurai invests in new building and bolsters print base

The new unit which will function alongside an existing unit, produces 12 magazines and tabloids every month along with handbills, danglers and brochures. The company is also eyeing production of cartons and labels.

Rm Lakshminarayanan, the owner said: "Our 23-year old firm can compete on price, speed and quality. But the high-level of automation means, we can handle shorter runs economically."

His son, Ramanathan who is a gold medallist at the Pune-based PVG Institute added: "Madurai is witnessing a boom in medicare, education and IT. It's a great opportunity for us to double our turnover."

The 28-staff unit which was founded in 1977 under humble circumstances, specialises in production of invitation cards for weddings and political functions.

The company which bagged awards at The Hindu-Maditssia awards has produced 2,000 copies of a complex book job which included 120 sets of plates and four-days of case-making
