Bobst launches machinery range for cartonboard packaging

By Simeon Goldstein Tuesday, 10 June 2008

Bobst has launched a new range of machinery for the cartonboard packaging sector at this year's Drupa show in Germany.

The Swiss firm's "next generation" of folder-gluers, die-cutters and hot foil stamping equipment is using common branding to make them "coherent and easy for firms to understand".

For each of the machine types the firm has four models - Nova, Vision, Expert and Master - designed to meet a company's individual requirements.

Nigel Tracey, marketing director for folder-gluers, highlighted the differing demands on packaging equipment around the world. "In the maturer markets, such as Western Europe, it's simple. Firms are looking to do things faster, or with greater differentiation, or perhaps using less labour. In emerging markets, it's all about a machines flexibility.

But he added there were "no big surprises or major trends" at the show. "People seem to be happy with the equipment they have, but still want to see what we're doing at the moment."

Bobst is also displaying the jdf process control system developed in conjunction with EskoArtwork, MAN Roland and Dr Lauterbach & Partner.

Yesterday MAN Roland completed the sale of a six-colour HiPrint 700 to cartonboard packaging giant Chesapeake.

Drupa is being held at the Messe Düsseldorf, Germany, and closes its doors tomorrow (11 June) after almost two weeks.
