In a jam A sandwich sold in a can has been drawn into a US lawsuit over a $145m (£95m) funding fraud. The US Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a complaint against Travis L Wright, a businessman from Salt Lake City, Utah who raised $145m from around 175 investors to put into real estate deals.

However, The New York Times said that Wright’s companies, under the name Waterford Funding, instead invested in the Candwich and other "untried ideas such as rose petals printed with greeting card sentiments and another selling watches over the internet".
Sticker situation The PN editorial team went bananas last month over a competition being run by fruit supplier Chiquita. The online contest called for fruit fans to redesign the firm’s well-known logo, which appears on millions of pieces of fruit around the world. Among the entries were designs featuring three men in a boat, a banana sunbathing and a number of faces. If there are no slip-ups, the winner will be announced next month.
Aloha moment Staying on an exotic theme, PN was invited last month to the excellent summer boat party hosted by the London branch of the Packaging Society. Bubbly was de rigueur, of course, as were Hawaiian shirts – at least, they were for the non-food packaging team of a certain high street retailer. We loved the stunt, although we’re not quite sure why they chose that particular attire – perhaps there was no Plan B…
