Xaar printhead technology used to produce LCD screens

Japan's Nakan Corporation is using Xaar 1001 printheads in its G8 Inkjet Printer to produce LCD screens.

The press, which was announced at the FPD International Convention last month, uses the printheads to produce a key component of TFT LCD screens that helps align the crystals and improve viewing angles for glass sheets up to 2x2.5m.

The G8 houses 42 Xaar 1001 printheads that use a range of techniques to ensure control over drop size and placement, as well as reliable delivery. The more efficient use of ink (or in this case the polyimide fluid) reduces both consumption and wastage.

Xaar chief executive Ian Dinwoodie said: "This new printer demonstrates the advanced capability of the Xaar 1001 printhead for non-graphic applications at an important time when high-volume manufacturers are looking for new digital fluid deposition technologies to bring down costs."

these heads are incredible seems they will not only see the back of all toner based technology but they are also finding new and exciting areas for growth....troubled times on the stock market....not sure if they are listed, but they would be worth a punt.
