RPC: Beauté products
RPC puts 160 jobs on the line with possible Beauté plant shutdown
By Gordon Carson Friday, 06 July 2007
RPC has attributed the possible closure of its Beauté site at Thornaby, near Middlesbrough, to the "rapidly declining UK customer base" for the factory's products.
Up to 160 jobs could go if the firm closes the plant and consolidates its beauty products manufacturing at mainland European sites in France and Italy.
RPC, which has entered into consultation with employees, said it had "not been possible to bring the business into sustainable profit".
This was despite investment in new machines and "a number of successful product launches".
RPC said it would "offer every assistance to employees to help them secure alternative employment" in the event of a closure.
